HARGASSNER GMBH

WENG IM INNKREIS

ABOUT THE COMPANY:

Since its establishment in 1984, Hargassner has been a pioneer in environmentally sound heating by means of renewable energies. The company is involved in the development, production and global distribution of pellet, wood chip and wood log boilers along with suitable equipment.

THE CHALLENGE:

For many years, employees and sales partners of Hargassner had been translating all of their marketing texts and user manuals by themselves, using an in-house translation tool. Over time, an ever-growing number of divergent terms for many key German concepts (i.e. terms) and formulations began to appear in these translations. In the source texts too, synonymous terms were applied to identical concepts in many cases – and, by the same token, identical terms were applied to different concepts.

THE SOLUTION:

Hargassner took the decision to have all texts translated by an external provider of language services. As a first step, GORNIK translators for industry standardised terminology in the target languages along with different spelling variants in the German source language. Over the course of two customised online workshops, GORNIK showed Hargassner how to continue the standardisation of its German terminology and improve its source texts. Subsequently, translation memories were steadily standardised and re-usability was enhanced.

THE RESULT:

Across all departments, there is now a growing appreciation that standard formulations and terminology in the German source texts are essential. Hargassner values the regular queries it receives from GORNIK translators, who are helping to improve source material by going into great technical detail. GORNIK’s project manager provides a reliable point of contact for Hargassner, adhering strictly to deadlines and responding rapidly to complex terminological questions.
